Wellington North Safe Communities
Safe Communities/Wellington North is a not for profit organization that started in Mount Forest on January 8, 2013. That was our first meeting and about 20 people attended to see what they could do to make Wellington North a safer place to live, learn, work and play.
We participated in the official designation ceremony for Safe Communities Wellington County on June 20, 2013, when Wellington County was declared the 28th “Safe Community” in Ontario by Parachute, Canada. The ceremony was held in Mount Forest with students from area schools participating, as well as seniors and other members of the community.
Throughout the years, Wellington North Safe Communities has focused on a variety of projects, including the “Vial of Life” program, Risks of Falls to Seniors Program, ATV Safety, Installation of a speed sign, the creation of a separate driveway for horse and buggies and more recently focusing on Opioids and Naloxone Training. We have been a very busy group and we want to continue to make an impact on injury prevention throughout Wellington North.
